We also get to use protocols, which provides for a nurse that is seeking to be autonomous. We have great teamwork and thoroughly enjoy each other. The pay at this hospital does not justify the work and the credentials we have as nurses.”

“Unity Point is a fabulous organization. Enjoy your work, engage with your patients and be discerning when choosing nurses to emulate. It will be what you make of it. There are, like any other employment environment, challenges. Nurse recruitment and retention is a struggle on most units, although there are many nurses that have worked entire careers at Unity Point St Lukes. Small town living, many that grew up and remained in the area for a lifetime. Educational and career opportunities abound for those interested in that track of nursing. Opportunity for advancement certainly exists within the system. I believe that Unity Point truly strives to live by their mission of providing the healthcare we would like to see our loved ones receive. I look outside of the system only for increased flexibility and the opportunity to travel.”
