Mother Stabs Nurse and Takes Baby From NICU

On Thursday, July 13th,  Kendra Greene, 31, entered the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a local hospital and removed her newborn baby from the ventilator while threatening staff members with a knife. She stabbed several hospital staff members, including nurses while leaving. 

Police responded to the stabbing at Palms West Hospital, located at 13001 Southern Blvd in Loxahatchee. After arriving, police realized that Greene had left the hospital with the medically fragile newborn and immediately issued an arrest warrant and searched for the baby.

The infant was found at Greene’s family member's home and transported back to the hospital. The baby is currently in stable condition as reported by 7 News Miami.

Greene is charged with,

  • Aggravated child abuse

  • Two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon

  • Battery and resisting an officer without violence 

Three staff members were treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries after attempting to intervene with Greene as she was leaving the unit. The names of the staff members have not been released.
